Honey gleaned by bees from the flowers of sweet chestnut (Castanea sp) is not available in the U.S., since the loss of the American Chestnut in the forests of the east. It is only available on the French island of Corsica, parts of Italy, Greece and Turkey and is derived from the flowers of the European chestnut {Castanea sativa). This product was gleaned from blight resistant hybrid American Chestnuts, a grove of trees now 60 feet tall, growing on a farm in East Feliciana Parish, Louisiana. We also have a dozen hives located at a large chestnut orchard located at the University of Missouri HARC farm in New Franklin, Mo. Hopefully, we will get extra production from a 200-tree orchard in Poplarville, Mississippi. Produce of USA. Supply is very limited.
